Biography

Maeve Jenkinson is an accomplished professional musician with extensive experience. She was a member of the first violin section of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, performing with world-class musicians, touring internationally, and recording. In addition, she has collaborated with prestigious chamber orchestras, including I Solisti Veneti and the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields.

Maeve trained at the Royal College of Music as a Foundation Scholar under the tutelage of Jaroslav Vanacek, where she won top prizes for violin and chamber music. She received scholarships to study in the U.S. with Josef Gingold and earned a Full Fellowship to the Aspen Music Festival, where she studied with renowned teachers Naoko Tanaka, Paul Kantor, and Dorothy DeLay. She also participated in masterclasses with esteemed violinists Franco Gulli and Zakhar Bron.

With 25 years of teaching experience, Maeve began teaching violin while raising her young children. Today, she continues to balance teaching with performing. She serves as the Musical Director of the Corelli Ensemble, leads the Ludlay String Quartet, and frequently performs with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Over a decade ago, Maeve established her own teaching studio, where she instructs a diverse range of students, from ages 3 to 83. She teaches all skill levels, from beginners to professional musicians. Her students have achieved significant success, excelling in grade exams, competitions, and earning scholarships. Several have joined the National Children's Orchestra, with many continuing their studies at top music conservatoires.

Maeve places strong emphasis on developing solid technical foundations, ensuring her students can fully enjoy the beauty of music. She encourages them to participate in recitals, orchestras, ensembles, and string quartets to further enrich their musical experience.

One of Maeve’s students received high praise from the Head of Strings at the Royal College of Music, who commented: "You are very well set up, with everything working well in your playing. The bow action is nice and straight, and you are developing a lovely vibrato. An excellent performance, and wonderful to see you enjoying yourself so much."

As a private music teacher, Maeve is fully insured and DBS checked.
